CHILDREN'S BOOKS

Superfudge | Judy Blume

After celebrating my birthday, this is my first Book Review in a while and on Superfudge by Judy Blume. Peter Hatcher has a little brother, Farley Drexel Hatcher but everybody calls him Fudge. They all think he is adorable but Peter knows the truth! Fudge throws temper tantrums, won't eat, ...sigh, it never ends! Believe me, I haven't told you anything yet!!

Then Peter gets a new set of problems. His parents have decided to move to New Jersey for a whole year. To make things even better, they are going to have a BABY, too! How will Peter survive if the baby is a duplicate of Fudge?!

The baby was born and they named her Tamara Roxanne but after only a month, she was nicknamed Tootsie. Maybe, just maybe, Peter's parents wanted a walking Candy Factory? Peter warned them that once she started school, her classmates would call her Tootsie Roll – or worse!

In his new school in New Jersey, Peter gets called down to the principal's office. You need to read what Fudge did next:

But I didn't see Fudge anywhere.

"Oh, Mr. Green," Mrs. Hildebrandt said, limping over to us. "I'm so glad you're here. I can't do a thing with him. He still refuses to come down."

I looked up. Fudge was perched on top of the cabinets that were on top of the cubbies. He was stretched out, lying across the top, just inches from the ceiling.

"Hi, Pee-tah," he called, waving.

"What are you doing up there?" I said.

"Resting."

"Come on down!"

"No. I don't like this school. I quit!"

This book is hilarious! Fudge is impossible to Peter, who always chases Fudge around! Another laugh-out-loud experience that you will definitely read again and again. Look out for other Fudge books by Judy Blume: Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Fudge-a-mania, and Double Fudge.

Aspiring to be a writer one day, Mackenzie's current favourite author is Roald Dahl. This dynamic 9-year-old is ready to tell you all about his stories and more! What better way to find out which children's books are good than to choose them from Mackenzie's blossoming collection of Children's Book Reviews?
